Beta onboarding guide
Getting started with Location Finder
Location Finder is a visual property scouting engine for film production and real estate. This guide walks you through the whole workflow — from account setup to exporting a scored list of real addresses — in the order you will use it.
01
Create your account
Sign up with your email address or your Google account from the header or the account panel on the home page. Passwords need at least eight characters with an upper-case letter, a lower-case letter, a number and a special character.
After signing up, complete your profile — name, company and industry — so results, saved searches and exports are attributed to you.
02
Pick a subscription level
The Free level runs 5 searches a month, which is enough to learn the workflow. Scout/Researcher and Location Manager/Producer levels add the full variable set, fuzzy threshold control, batch search and saved history; the Studio level adds seats and unlimited searches.
In this beta no payment processor is connected, so you can switch levels freely and nothing is charged.
03
Build your Search Brief
Open the Search Console and upload one reference photo of the kind of structure or location you need. This image is the primary search variable.
Then narrow the search area — country, state/province, municipality — and add Location type, Architectural style and Dominant colour / material from the multi-select pick lists. Finally set the fuzzy threshold: the minimum acceptable match percentage for a candidate to be returned.
04
Run a single search
Clicking Single Search clears every field and previous result so you always start clean. Fill in the brief and run it: the engine returns the 10 best candidates for your area.
If nothing clears your threshold, the console tells you so rather than padding the list with weak matches.
05
Read a result card
Each card carries the civic address on three lines, latitude and longitude, the match percentage aligned to the right of the address, a Street View frame, a Map Pin link that opens Google Maps in a new tab, and a mini map at the top right of the card.
The match percentage is a weighted score across image similarity, location type, architectural style, dominant colour/material and geography. The full weighting model is documented on the Match Engine page.
06
Sort, filter and export
Use Sort & filter results to order candidates by match percentage or to narrow by the Location type, Architectural style and colour/material values you actually selected in your brief.
Export the full result set to CSV — including map pin links, state/province and zip/postal code — or save individual Street View frames as JPG.
07
Batch search
For a slate of locations, download the CSV template, fill one row per brief, and upload it under Batch Search. Rows are validated with row-level error messages before anything runs, and starting a new batch clears previous results and map markers.
08
Saved searches and history
Save any brief you expect to repeat, then reload it later from Saved Searches. Results you have run stay in place while you move around the app until you clear or save the search, so navigating away never loses your work.
09
Your profile and security
Your profile page holds account details, a change-password form with a live strength meter, your subscription and usage, and a security panel for reviewing and ending sign-in sessions.
Sign-in and password reset attempts are rate limited, and administrative actions are recorded in an audit log.
10
Tell us what breaks
This is a beta. Street View, Places, mapping, listing connections and billing are represented with sample data in this build. Use the Send Feedback page to report anything that looks wrong, attach a screenshot, and pick a category so it reaches the right place.
Tips that improve your results
- —Use a reference photo that shows the facade straight on — cropped, well-lit exteriors score far better than interiors or wide landscapes.
- —Start with a broad fuzzy threshold (around 60%) and tighten it once you see what the area actually contains.
- —Fewer, more accurate variables beat many guessed ones: every variable you add narrows the candidate pool.
- —Always verify a location and secure permission before scouting, shooting or marketing it.
